More on SOSOS
Posted on May 15, 2009 by BenThis is a ‘screenshot’ of a more developed version SOSOS, It is not just for touchscreen computers.
Some features and a screenie after the click.
This version has:
- Integrated chat (bottom right) is accesible anywhere even when playing games, without alt-tabbing.
- Notifiers (top right). Any application can add their own icons to it. Right now, only email and IM would be integrated.
- Autoplay (bottom left). Play full games (like Halo) direct from CD! Install them while you are playing, in the background.
- Processes (top left). Like Windows 7, these are basically minimized applications. However, also like Windows 7, you can leave them there when they are not on, as in dock them. Also, you can leave an application running without any windows, like Mac.
- Desktop (center). This is not your average desktop. This is more like Mac OS X’s Spaces. A group of icons (enough to fill one screen size without panning) is packaged together in something called a Shelf. This Shelf can then be dragged around and the icons dragged around within the shelve or to other shelves. On touchscreen PCs (the method for doing so on a non touchscreen is not decided on yet), pinching the display zooms out, letting you see multiple shelves at once.
Remember: SOSOS is a concept, is not and probably will not go into development.
